Balancing Educational Technology

As educators we have a large selection in the field of educational technology to use in the classroom. While technology has proven to be a game changer in education it is important to find that balance between the traditional approach to teaching and what we see today in using technology in the classroom. We must ensure as 21st century educators that we don't shy away from the newest technology such as the wide array of Apps, Gadgets, and educational hardware and software that is being introduced into our field.

I consider myself a little tech savvy but I have resisted embracing all the newest advancements in technology. Some of the latest advancements such as Remind, Google Drive, Google Classroom, and other resources found in Google Suite for Education have really allowed for communication with students and parents while also helping to ensure collaboration inside and outside of the classroom. I have learned so much in our Educational Technology course that has provided me with additional opportunities to become exposed to other resources and really allowing me to assess my own approach to technology not just as a teacher, but also as an aspiring leader in education.

It is important to see the expanding world of applications as tools to help strengthen curriculum and our approach to teaching. I don't consider the various Apps as replacements to what I already do in the classroom. It is important for educators to ease their way into incorporating what they feel comfortable using and what they believe will be beneficial for their students.

I welcome any thoughts you may have about educational technology or tips that will help others.
